There are a few qualities that have come to define me over the years. Like most kids, I was intensely curious. Understanding fundamental principles and being able to explain how things work gave me confidence. Of course, as I grew up, I realized not everything is knowable; human knowledge has boundaries. Being able to function in a world where unexpected inputs are possible and unpredictable outcomes occur has been an asset. I’ve made a habit of always considering what I know as well as what I don’t know – the unknown. The unknown is what I find most exciting as it’s where new knowledge is synthesized. This excitement for the unknown has always pulled me towards research, whether it be academically, professionally, or in my hobby pursuits.
